Measuring anchors (bolts)

Purpose: In the construction of tunnels, excavation of construction pits and ensuring natural and man-made slopes, it is possible to choose effectively the type and quantity of anchors (bolts) based on the results of the geotechnical monitoring. If we install an anchor as a measurement element, we can detect shifts and distortions in a number of areas along it. These values determine the normal forces in the anchor in order to optimize the length of anchors and their arrangement.

Description of the system: Measuring anchors have in their inside an integrated 4-tuple extensometer. Along the measuring anchor the individual measuring bars are joined at four places with the anchor, allowing the measurement of deformations and forces in four sections. The measuring anchor has a similar load-bearing capacity as the applied anchors, so it replaces one anchor. With a digital measuring device a relative distance from the measuring head to the anchorages is measured. By comparing the stage measurements with the initial one, shortenings or extensions of anchor bar are defined.
